Congratulations you are just a few steps away from your next great adventure...
STEP 1: If you have a wilderness permit already reserved or the beginning and end dates for your trip chosen, please e-mail that information to sean@rouloguideservice.com. Otherwise we can start by identifying the dates you and your friends are available for a trip. The Boundary Waters Wilderness Area works on a daily permit/quota system and permit availability is limited. You have to enter the Wilderness on the day your permit states - rarely are exceptions made.
A canoe trip or winter camping trip can last for 3 days or 3 weeks, there are no time limit restrictions. We recommend a minimum of 4 nights. According to the US Forest Service, the average length of an overnight trip into BWCAW the is 5 days and 4 nights.
STEP 2: Decide what kind of activities you would like to do on your trip. For example do you want to primarily travel, moving camp as we go? Or perhaps you don't want to really do that much traveling but would rather try your luck fishing or exploring from a base camp. Some people just like to go to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
STEP 3: Pick your energy level. Do you want a more vigorous routine such as moving camp every day and paddling 10+ miles a day, or do you want a slower paced trip, perhaps just set up a base camp? Or maybe something in between?
Once you can answer these questions we can start picking an entry point and a route.
